    • To be selected by AMU

Application within the framework of a Master 1

Consequently, even if a student is preselected for an Erasmus trip, by Civis or Outside Europe, as part of a Master 1, he/she will only be admitted to the exchange programme if he/she has been selected for a Master 1. Please note that not all M1 courses are compatible for a departure abroad. Please.

Students are therefore invited to follow the ordinary selection procedure for the Master's programme, as provided for in the E-candidat application.

  • United Kingdom

From September 2022, the UK will no longer be an official participant in the ERASMUS+ programme.

This implies a number of big changes in terms of mobility in these countries.

    Language level and language certifications

Few language qualifications are officially accepted(UK Government website). Currently (as of 28/06/2021), you must prove a minimum level of English B2 with one of the following certifications:

    • IELTS SELT Consortium: "IELTS for UKVI" or "IELTS Life Skills
    • LanguageCert: "LanguageCert International ESOL SELT
    • Pearson: PTE Academic UKVI or PTE Home
    • PSI Services: Skills for English UKVI

These are valid at all UK universities. They cost between 200 and 250€.

The TOEFL is currently accepted by the universities and allows you to obtain the VISA (250€).

    VISA

Whether it is a mobility of 1 semester or 1 year, the passport is mandatory. It must be valid for the whole period of mobility. If you don't have one, take the necessary steps as soon as possible.

1 semester mobility (6 months or less):

EU students will be able to study for up to six months in the UK without applying for a visa via the new 'Visitor Route' rules. They will be able to apply for the Visitor Route at the border on arrival in the UK (airport or train station) by presenting a letter of acceptance from their host university and using their ePassport. They will not have to pay any application fee.

Mobility of more than 6 months:

The "student route" will apply to students studying for more than 6 months in the UK. A visa is required.

    To apply for a visa:

    • Application fee (£348)
    • An NHS Access Fee (Immigration Health Surcharge - £470 per year) will apply to students.

Student Route Points: To be eligible, students will need to achieve a total of 70 points by submitting various documents. Information on this can be found on the UK government website.

    See the simulator.

    Health insurance

1 semester mobility (6 months or less):

By taking the visitor route, access to primary NHS services is systematic. However, the British authorities recommend that you take out complementary health insurance.

Mobility of more than 6 months:

The European Health Insurance Card will no longer be in force from 1 January 2021.

The points-based system (PBS) will apply. A membership to the National Health Service (NHS) will be compulsory and will be done when applying for a visa (£470 per year): see the British government website.

You can find this information on the university's FAQ.

  • Who can help me find an internship?

We do not keep an address book.

However, here are a few organizations that regularly offer internships:

    • The International Criminal Court in The Hague (Netherlands)
    • The European Commission in Brussels (Belgium)
    • The Ministry of Foreign Affairs
    • NGOs in the humanitarian field

You can also contact the SUIO, which can offer you workshops on writing CVs, cover letters, etc.

  • What are the steps to take?

Once you have found your internship, you must apply for an agreement via your ENT.

Be careful, some countries are considered "at risk". You can consult the list on the France Diplomatie website. These destinations require a mandatory validation of the internship agreement by the university's Defense Security Officer (FSD). In case of refusal, the internship must be cancelled.

  • Is there any financial assistance available?

If your internship is abroad, you may be eligible for financial aid.

You will find in the "documents to download" section a brochure explaining all the measures put in place to benefit from a grant.

These vary according to the country of destination and whether or not you are a CROUS scholarship holder.

Isabelle CATTEAU - BRNO
I'm in Erasmus at the University of Brno (Czech Republic) for one year. The city is very nice with beautiful buildings and many parks and museums. It's also easy to visit other cities around like Vienna, Prague or Bratislava. I have a total of 7 lessons of 1h40 per week. Unfortunately, due to the current health situation, I don't have face-to-face classes but online via Microsoft Teams. Most of my classes are based on a discussion between the students and the teacher, so we have to read texts to prepare the session. In some classes I also have essays to hand in or exercises to do. All the teachers use power points to make their lessons, which can be easily found. Also, the teachers are very available to answer any questions during the course or by email. We are very well supervised. The workload depends on the subjects and the weeks but overall, it's pretty good. The exams are online this year, there are several types of exams (essays to be handed in, MCQs, dissertation to be done in 2 hours and oral). Continuous assessment is not taken into account in all subjects and when it is taken into account, the final exam is still a big percentage of the grade. Concerning the budget, the daily life is less expensive than in France. For food, I spend between 20 and 25 euros per week. Restaurants and bars are very affordable. You can eat well for less than 10 euros a meal. Concerning the accommodation, there are university residences in which it is almost impossible not to find a place as an Erasmus student. On the other hand, the buildings are quite old and far from the city centre. The rooms are shared by two people with shared kitchens in some residences. The rent is about 130 euros per month. In times of confinement, the rules in the university residences have been quite strict with a curfew and a limitation of movement. You have to be careful to respect the rules because some students who did not respect the rules got kicked out of the residence. I didn't choose to go to a university residence but I am sharing with two other Erasmus students in the city centre. My rent is 350 euros/month. The transport pass costs 30 euros for 3 months but I did not take it because I live in the centre of Brno. Most of the difficulties I encountered were caused by the current health situation. However, it is still easy to meet Erasmus students but also local ones. Moreover, it is not possible to go to Brno by plane. It is possible to land in Prague or Vienna and reach Brno by train or bus. Please note that the currency is not the euro, 1 euro corresponds to about 25 Czech crowns.
