These two study days are organized following the publication in November 2021 by Michèle Dupré and Jean-Christophe Le Coze of the book Des usines, des matières et des hommes (Factories, materials and men ) which intends to relate the socio-technical complexity of these industrial sites by crossing sociology of work, employment, activity, but also socio-technical systems such as developed in particular in Anglo-Saxon literature. At the same time, following the observation of dependence on other production zones, a plural demand for the relocation of factories in France to limit the harmful consequences of unregulated globalization is emerging with force. The environmental issue is therefore in tension with the employment issue. This new situation leads us to reconsider our initial question: "2022: what is the future of major risk industrial companies?
