AIMS
The primary objective of this DESU is to offer practical training to international lawyers and humanitarians who intend to operate in the field. The aim is to provide excellent practical training to make students operational as lawyers or humanitarians in complex environments [conflict zones, conflict zones, conflict areas];This degree enables students to work in complex environments [conflict, pre-conflict or post-conflict areas, humanitarian emergencies, natural disasters, political tensions, extreme poverty, health hazards]. This diploma allows students to be trained in the challenges of humanitarian missions and to be put in touch with the professional world thanks to a privileged contact with practitioners - teachers. It is also part of a partnership with the NOHA network.
TARGETED STUDENTS
The DESU addresses:
- To students enrolled in a Master 2 in the same academic year or with a Master 2 or equivalent
- Professionals who already work in the humanitarian field but who wish to have a better understanding of the whole range of issues
- For people who are active in a professional activity and wish to find their bearings.
A personal profile with an international, solidarity and action orientation is an asset. A perfect command of French and a good command of English are essential.
ADMISSION CONDITIONS
Master 1 in law, political science, international relations (or other) or equivalent. The selection is based on a file and may be accompanied by an interview.
STRUCTURE AND ORGANISATION
Total number of teaching weeks in the course: 30
Period of teaching : The course runs from September to July of the academic year.

KNOWLEDGE TO BE ACQUIRED
In-depth knowledge of applied international law: international humanitarian law, international criminal law, international human rights law, migration law
Mastery of negotiation, argumentation and mediation techniques and theories
Theoretical and practical knowledge of human rights protection mechanisms
Theoretical and practical mastery of litigation strategy (including trial simulation)
Theoretical and practical knowledge of humanitarian communication, humanitarian ethics, investigation techniques, strategies of humanitarian actors
Theoretical and practical mastery of: humanitarian security, humanitarian action, project cycle, coordination and distribution, humanitarian financing, logisticsPROFESSIONAL SKILLS TO BE ACQUIRED
The certified skills or abilities acquired during the year are the following:
Analytical skills
Knowledge of project development techniques
Knowledge of risk factors
Knowledge of risk reduction techniques
Ability to design intervention strategies and integrate them into development for sustainability
Ability to interact with nutrition, water and medical technology (not to perform the same activities but to perform coordination and management functions)

Ability to communicate in a humanitarian environment
Ability to investigate in the field
Ability to organize a detention visit
Ability to implement strategies
Ability to contribute to the management of a refugee camp
Ability to use humanitarian management techniques (project cycle, humanitarian coordination and distribution, funding, budget management and accounting)
Ability to argue and negotiate in a humanitarian context
Ability to argue in the context of an international trial
Ability to develop a litigation strategy
Ability to participate in international mediation
Ability to work in a team in an intercultural environment
Ability to develop reflexes, acquire analytical skills and critical thinking on humanitarian action in conflict zones/post-disaster intervention

The presence of thirty or so external speakers - professionals in the field - which allows, in addition to first-hand contact with the humanitarian world, the constitution of a network and address book which is essential for a good start / continuation of a career in the humanitarian world, to which are added "in-house" interventions by former students who are now professionals which allow for the apprehension of the career possibilities and outlets of this diploma
