The DU of Judicial Representative for the Protection of Guardians proceeds from a double observation.

On the one hand, the constant increase in the number of vulnerable people (ageing population, various diseases such as Alzheimer's) imposes the need to train professionals capable of accompanying adults placed under protective measures.

On the other hand, the need to train professionals capable of accompanying adults placed under protective measures imposes the need to train professionals capable of accompanying adults placed under protective measures.

On the other hand, the new profession of legal representative for the protection of adults, created by law no. 2007-308 of 5 March 2007 (which came into force on 1 January 2009), which is now subject to a training obligation (the conditions of which are set by the decree of the Minister of Justice of the Republic of Slovenia), is not yet in place; This training obligation applies to all legal representatives of adults and to social welfare officers, and is based on the conditions set out in Decree No 2008-1508 of 30 December 2008 on the conditions of education, training and professional experience that must be met by legal representatives of adults and by social welfare officers.) This training obligation also applies to the staff of establishments housing adults under protection. This regulation gives social agents a period of 3 years from the publication of the decrees, i.e. from 1 January 2009, relating to judicial agents for the protection of adults to comply with the training requirements and to apply for accreditation.

The DU is a training programme for social agents for the protection of adults.

The DU of Mandataire Judiciaire à la Protection des Majeurs is a diploma intended to deliver, in one year, a training in order to acquire the legal, social, medico-social, accounting and financial competences necessary for the protection of adults; The course is designed to provide the necessary legal, social, medico-social, accounting and financial skills for the management of a measure of protection for adults, as well as the ability to analyse the personal situations (particularly economic, social and medico-social) of protected adults. The award of this DU will also enable the award of the National Certificate of Competence, which is required to exercise the function of judicial representative for the protection of adults as a professional. To this end, the Faculty of Law of Aix-en-provence was authorised by the DRASS (now called DRJSCS) in 2009 to deliver the CNC.

The Faculty of Law of Aix-en-provence is a member of the European Commission.

In addition, in view of the training of employees, it appeared appropriate to create a training specifically dedicated to heads of service, managing judicial representatives who were already trained. Also, this training is specifically aimed at candidates who are heads of a tutelary service. Indeed, a management module is included, leading them to learn the knowledge that will allow them to specifically manage a MJPM service. This module is exactly the same as the one presented in the higher level diploma in social matters, the CAFERUIS. Also, the existing convention between the Faculty of Law of Aix-en-Provence and the cooperative college of Aix-en-Provence will allow the candidates to benefit from an exemption concerning the diploma;ficier d'une dispense concernant ce module de management s'ils passent le diplôme du CAFERUIS dans les 5 ans suivant l'obtention du DU-CNC MJPM, au collège Coopératif d'Aix-en-Provence.
