Presentation of the event

Closing session of the "Common good(s), paths of hope in the face of the challenges of the century"organized under the direction of Bettina Laville, President of the IEA. This cycle of five meetings proposes to revisit the notion of the commons, in light of the history of the concept and its current variations in the intellectual, economic, and institutional spheres.

Presentation of the session

Our era calls into question many of the foundations of what we call our political and social model, in particular the regulatory role of the State, the exercise of citizenship, the public/private dualism, and the concept of international community. Isn't it time to rebuild the Common from the new realities, to fill the social, political and ecological fractures? The viability of the biosphere is a common issue, what are the scales of action to preserve it?

With the participation of François Gemenne, political scientist, professor at the Institut d'études politiques de Paris and director of the Hugo Observatory dedicated to environmental migrations at the University of Liège, Frédéric Worms, philosopher, professor of contemporary philosophy and director of the École normale supérieure, Dominique Schnapper, sociologist, political scientist, member of the Constitutional Council from 2001 to 2010, former president of the IEA of Paris, and other speakers to come.
