BnF and its Bibliothèques d'Orient partners invite the public on a journey through remarkable documentary holdings on the history, societies and cultures of the Middle East. Curators and researchers present documents and collections identified, conserved or valorized within the framework of Bibliothèques d'Orient, BnF's cooperation program with conservation institutions in the Middle East and around collections relating to this region.
BnF is currently collaborating with thirteen institutions holding collections of heritage and scientific value in Egypt, Jerusalem, Lebanon, Iraq and Turkey. Depending on the case, cooperation covers the identification, restoration, enriched cataloguing, digitization and promotion of these holdings via research and digital humanities projects, their distribution on Gallica and their presentation on the Bibliothèques d'Orient website.
