The aim of this interdisciplinary and international symposium is to study the expressions of violence at the French court, from the Middle Ages to the 19th century. The symposium proposes to analyze the forms, actors, motivations, effects and discourses relating to violence in the specific context of court society, questioning the validity of the concept of the court as a space for the regulation of social relations, temperance and the progressive control of emotions.
