This session, proposed at the 2024 congress of the international research network on organizations and sustainable development (RIODD) entitled Imagining, experimenting and perpetuating strong sustainability. What institutions in Europe and beyond? intends to take an interdisciplinary approach to risk prevention (industrial, environmental and transport), looking at current and sometimes competing national and European practices, regulations and standards in a globalized context.

Contributions may focus on the definition of "university democracy", its historical trajectory, its legal contours or its political or sociological issues, including by looking at foreign experiences. Contributions may also be aimed at clarifying innovative democratic arrangements within universities, with a view to providing reflective and shared feedback.

Focusing on the colonial question in the exile press, the congress aims to discuss the liminality of experiences of occupation, dissidence, clandestinity and banishment in their relation to political expatriation, both in terms of the similarities of their psychological impact and the circulations they tend to foster. The aim is to encourage studies that explore the ideas, images and debates around colonialism and colonial realities mobilized by exile periodicals, both in their diversity and by highlighting convergences and divergences.

The covid 19 pandemic that, since 2019, has spread from China to the entire planet, draws attention to a phenomenon that has recurred throughout the centuries, that of epidemics and communicable diseases. First, it's important to define the terms of the subject. An endemic is a disease that is permanently rife in a given region, such as malaria. An epidemic occurs when a contagious disease strikes a large number of people at a given time. A pandemic occurs when a disease rapidly affects a large part of the planet.
