  • Initial training - Continuing education
  • 1 year
  • Aix-en-Provence
  • AIMS

The training aims to develop a high level of competence in the various fundamental subjects of domestic public law. It is not only a matter of deepening a disciplinary mastery but above all of developing a high level of vision and a critical spirit, by putting the major disciplines of public law into perspective with their political, historical, sociological and economic context. The primary objective of the program is to introduce students to university research. In addition to this, there is a clear professional objective, as the program offers the possibility of direct professional integration thanks to the possibility of an internship, but also by allowing the acquisition of a general legal culture that is essential for the main administrative competitions and an "intelligence" of the legal relationship of public law, which can be used in an administrative or economic environment.

  • FUNDAMENTAL PREREQUISITES

Master 1 in law or equivalent degree. The possibility of entering the M2 after obtaining a diploma from the Institute of Political Studies or a Master I in a non-legal discipline is subject to an examination of the equivalence of the training.

  • FUNDAMENTAL PREREQUISITES

It is recommended to have followed in-depth courses (with tutorials) in domestic public law during the Master 1, but also during the licence. An opening in the field of legal theory, private law or European and international law is also learnt.

  • LEARNING SITES

    • FDSP, Aix-en-Provence
  • LEARNING AND RESEARCH

The training is above all, although not exclusively, dedicated to the initiation of students into university research through the production of a research dissertation and various reports. The supervision of this research is ensured by research professors of the faculty who have developed an expertise in the various branches of public law over many years.

  • PROFESSIONAL SKILLS TO BE ACQUIRED

Master the major specialties of public law, European, foreign and comparative law.
Master the different sources of law,
Master the relationships between legal systems in Europe and constitutional, administrative, financial and freedom litigation.
Know how to put into perspective the legal problems and notions of public law with their social, economic, political and philosophical context
Ability to access documentary sources on all available media, to carry out a legal and litigation analysis favouring international and comparative approaches

Writing of articles, notes or critical synthesis reports on a subject in the field of public law

  • INTERNSHIPS AND SUPERVISED PROJECTS

Students can carry out a professional internship of a minimum duration of 8 weeks (in a lawyer's office, in the administrative jurisdiction or in an administration). This internship gives rise to the drafting of an internship report, under the supervision of a research professor.

  • SPECIFIC TEACHING CONDITIONS

The specialised lectures are complemented by practical seminars which aim to develop the students' ability to confront theoretical teachings with the observation of a legal practice (constitutional, administrative and contractual, protection of fundamental rights...).

My year of Master 2 in Fundamental Public Law in Aix-en-Provence was both fulfilling and instructive. Fulfilling, first of all, because of the links between fellow students coming from all horizons which can be easily established within a small class, but also thanks to the seminars where interactions with the professors are privileged. Secondly, it was instructive, since the excellent public law courses taught there, encompassing both legal theory and the practice of public law, enabled me to hone my skills as a lawyer. I was personally seduced by the theoretical teachings which were missing from my training and which, however, help to forge and solidify our knowledge of the Law. Beyond learning, this year was also for me the one of open-mindedness and the acquisition of a solid legal culture, essential to any good lawyer in the making. Thanks to all this, I was finally able to obtain a doctoral contract in order to pursue my thesis at the Institut Louis Favoreu in Aix-en-Provence.

After having completed my entire training at the University of Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne, I chose to join the M2 DPF at the University of Aix-Marseille. This is the best way to go on with a thesis, or simply to ask yourself questions about what you are doing in the legal field. It is about becoming an actor and giving depth to one's activity as a lawyer. The student is led to ask himself: what is law? What are the implications and postulates of this or that legal reasoning? What do I think about these points? In parallel, more material conside […]

During the first semester, at least two days are "free" per week, which is precious time for personal work. This also makes it possible to make progress on the dissertation/internship research, or a possible complementary student work. In summary: this M2 will teach you to arm yourself to feed your own reflections, and to empower you in your work. Do not hesitate to contact the ILF Student Association if you have any questions!
