    The Master in Legislative Studies aims to contribute to the knowledge and study of the functioning of contemporary decision-making and legislative processes at regional, national, European and international levels. It is a theoretical and practical training to ensure both the employability of future graduates and to lead them to careers in both the private and public sectors.

    The course is designed to be a combination of theoretical and practical training.

    More specifically, the said Master has three objectives:

    - to focus the teaching on the conditions of the preselection, liberation, execution and evaluation of the Law by the so-called co-legislative institutions in a multi-level system of governance. The said institutions are Parliaments, Constitutional Courts, Courts of Audit and related, Councils of State and related, Public Prosecutors and related, etc.

    - focus the lessons on the nature and conditions of interactions between the so-called co-legislative institutions with the groups ofThe interactions between the so-called co-legislative institutions and the interest groups forming the civil society and the media on the one hand, and the effects of conventionality and their limits with international public organisations on the other; and their limits with international and European public organisations of governance and cooperation in the legal and political field such as the Council of Europe, the Organisation internationale de la Francophonie, the Organisation of American States, the European Union, etc.

    - to train the staff of co-legislative institutions and interest groups in public ethics, in the cultural, economic, scientific and technological challenges that the Law will face in the 21st century from a multidisciplinary perspective.

  • FUNDAMENTAL PREREQUISITES

    It is necessary to have a first cycle degree or equivalent, i.e. a Bachelor and/or a Bachelor's degree (180 ECTS) in your choice of public administration, law, contemporary political history, international relations, philosophy, political science, economics and/or social sciences.

    Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters Courses are international study programmes delivered by a consortium of higher education institutions from different countries and with a strong interest in the study programme. The existence in Canada, Luxembourg and France of three chairs with similar scientific disciplines and themes and similar objectives makes it possible to optimise scientific and teaching experiences.

  • PROFESSIONAL SKILLS TO BE ACQUIRED

    Improve understanding and analysis of the functioning of deliberative institutions, their decision-making processes, and the law of political elections through which citizens designate their representatives;
    To monitor trends and promote the emergence of new decision-making processes and practices within a democratic and multi-level governance framework, involving public and private actors;
    Develop personalized studies through internship and/or research papers at the request of the institutions concerned;
    Prepare normative instruments (such as laws, regulations, guidelines, international texts, codes of conduct or standardized contracts) in the development of public orientations and policies.

  • INTERNSHIPS AND SUPERVISED PROJECTS

    At the end of the year, a summer school takes place, allowing students to earn credits and whose preparation constitutes a project organized throughout the year.

  • SPECIFIC TEACHING CONDITIONS

    The courses are conducted in face-to-face teaching. The lecturers combine various teaching methods: theoretical presentations, case studies, role-playing, role-playing and discussion time, allowing the student to be an active participant in his training.

    The second year of the Master takes place at the University of Luxembourg.
