The premise of this conference is that rigorously analyzing violence is in itself a political act, and that this analysis must remain grounded in the lived reality of those affected, without ever losing sight of the structures that produce and reproduce that reality. In short, the goal is to examine the possibility of transforming violence into a bond of civility and the conditions—both theoretical and practical—for such a transformation.
