Master's degree in Business Law - Economic Law course

The programme of the Master of Business Law aims to train future teachers-researchers (professors, lecturers) as well as practitioners of business law who will become lawyers or company lawyers. The Master's degree, initially created by Dean Jacques Mestre, is original in that it brings together all the major areas of business law in order to provide students with transversal skills. The law of contracts, companies, competition, international trade and arbitration, intellectual property and collective proceedings are all taught in depth. In addition, through the writing of the dissertation throughout the year, the student acquires research and reflection skills that are highly valued by law firms and companies.

Applicants must present a portfolio that demonstrates a business-oriented education, at least with regard to the subjects chosen in the previous years in the academic career, or with regard to the internships carried out.

Candidates must have a balanced record, which includes having obtained honours during their university career, having completed internships in a law firm or company, having a good knowledge of foreign languages

The Master's programme focuses on a generalist training in business law. It combines courses in contract law, corporate law, competition law, international trade law and arbitration law, as well as intellectual property law and collective proceedings. In addition, through the writing of the dissertation throughout the year, the student acquires the research and reflection skills that are so important in the world of law;The student will acquire research and reflection skills that are highly valued by law firms and companies, and/or that pave the way for the further development of a thesis for academic or professional purposes.

The master is attached to the Centre de Droit Economique (CDE), which focuses its main research themes on business contract law, corporate law, competition law, intellectual property law, collective proceedings, arbitration, and sports law.

The master usually welcomes foreign students, notably from programmes set up by the University of Aix-Marseille with Lebanon, Russia, Syria, Haiti, and the United States.

The student enrolled in this programme must acquire general competences in business law, as well as a sense of research, marked by both a solid structure of legal reasoning and by legal creativity that can flow from a thorough analysis of the law; Both a solid structure of legal reasoning and the legal creativity that can result from in-depth reflection on these cross-cutting issues.
