AIMS
The aim of this course is to train lawyers specialised in rural business law, mastering the different legal aspects of the life of agricultural enterprises.
This is a master's degree in business law, specialised in the field of rural enterprises and the production and sale of agricultural products.
This is a master's degree in business law, specialising in the field of rural enterprises and the production and marketing of quality products. In a context of increased community and international competition, companies in the harmonised and regulated wine, spirits, agricultural and food products sectors are segmenting their offer around quality and origin (Label rouge-Appellation d'Origine);origin (Label rouge-Appellations of origin and geographical indications-Spécialit; traditionnelle-Produit bio) or valorising signs (labels « montagne », « fermier », or commercial brands).
The companies in these sectors are concentrating and recruiting employees capable of meeting all their needs, from the management of companies and cooperatives to contracts concerning land (e.g., for the construction of new buildings);contracts concerning land (rural leases), the social rights of farmers and their employees, as well as the rules of intellectual property.
FUNDAMENTAL PREREQUISITES
Master 1 or equivalent

Students should have a solid background in business or property law, as well as a good knowledge of contract law and EU law.

A good knowledge of corporate taxation and/or accounting is recommended, as well as industrial property law.

LEARNING AND RESEARCH
The training is supported by the Environmental Law and Sustainable Development team of the Centre for Economic Law, which develops research activities related to the concept of sustainable development in the field of law;The Centre develops research activities related to the interpretation of the concept of sustainable development by common civil and business law, in particular in the fields of sustainable agriculture, sustainable finance, environmental protection and the environment;sustainable agriculture, sustainable finance, socially responsible investment, corporate social responsibility, sustainable governance and business conflict resolution, as well as intellectual property law.
PROFESSIONAL SKILLS TO BE ACQUIRED
Students will acquire the following skills:

- Ability to draft consultations, opinions and files usual in professional life .
- Expressive and oral skills .
- Ability to speak in public and to explain the legal standards applicable to agricultural enterprises .
INTERNSHIPS AND SUPERVISED PROJECTS
Internship of at least three months in a law firm, a company, a domain or any other public or private body (administration, association, Organisme de défense et de gestion d'une appellation), which must enable them to cover and deepen the practice of rural business law.
SPECIFIC TEACHING CONDITIONS
The master's programme includes 12-hour courses, grouped into teaching units, taught by professors in an interactive way, with readings;The course is divided into two parts: short seminars, taught by professionals, devoted to case studies, in order to prepare students for the practice of law.
Students must choose between two options: Wine Law or Advanced Rural Business Law, for which specific courses are organised, and in which they carry out their research work for the preparation of a dissertation.
