1 Summary of the scheme
Thesis projects must involve a doctoral student, a host laboratory, a thesis director and a co-financing partner (public or private): the amount of ADEME co-financing is 50% of the doctoral student's remuneration.
In exceptional cases, ADEME may provide 100% funding for certain projects (particularly in the human and social sciences).
ADEME is the doctoral student's employer (remunerates the doctoral student).
2 Thematic areas
The priority research areas and questions for which thesis projects are expected for this 2024 edition are specified within the following four thematic research priorities:
- Preservation and restoration of environments and resources in a context of climate change.
- Circular economy with a view to resilience.
- Ecological transition of energy and industrial systems to achieve carbon neutrality.
- Ecological transition and society: priority is given to human and social science questions and work in the various thematic fields, as well as to cross-disciplinary work in evaluation, modeling and forecasting.
3 Eligibility criteria
Applicants :
- Must hold or be in the process of obtaining a Master's degree or diploma allowing enrolment in a Doctoral School by 1ᵉʳ October 2024.
- Must have a curriculum of good standard and appropriate to the subject.
- Must not be engaged in other professional activities.
- Must have a good command of the French language.
- Has the possibility to have already started his/her thesis at the earliest on October 1ᵉʳ, 2023.
- Agrees to be a full-time employee of ADEME for the duration of his/her thesis.
Laboratory(ies):
- Must be attached to a French public research establishment.
- Provide sufficient supervision resources for the doctoral student.
