This colloquium is aimed at historians, from ancient times to the contemporary world, to propose a long-term approach to the links between agriculture and the environment in Europe, and to take a fresh look at the environmental transformations linked to agricultural practices. Papers will give priority to practical experience rather than theoretical treatises, to empirical observations rather than scientific and agronomic recommendations, and if scholarly knowledge is addressed, it will be to measure the way in which it coexists and blends with practical knowledge.
