The 2020 municipal elections have ushered in a new local political cycle, marked by the rise of intercommunalités and unprecedented partisan recompositions. At the end of the 2020-2026 term of office, this symposium examines the scope of these transformations: have alternations really renewed local power and urban public action, or do they come up against persistent forms of inertia? Papers analyze the social and political conditions of change, examining the recomposition of coalitions of players, the resistance encountered and the effects of alternations on public policy, particularly with regard to socio-spatial inequalities and environmental issues.
