I Framework
Axa Research Fund finances fundamental research projects dedicated to a better understanding of risks, threats and societal challenges, in the following areas: Health, Environment, and Socio-Economics.
To this end, the AXA 2026 Chairs call for projects has been launched.
Its objectives include :
- The creation of a full-time academic position within an institution
- Support for the consequent acceleration of the development of a field of research
- Promoting a major change in the career of the selected AXA Professor.
The research project must demonstrate scientific originality and innovative aspects. All selected projects must start within 9 months of the Chair's approval.
Maximum duration: 5 years.
Amount: 200,000 euros per year.
Profile: confirmed researcher holding a doctorate for at least 10 years at the time of application, with a proven track record of outstanding achievements.
This year, there are two distinct categories in the AXA 2026 Chair call for projects:
1- Global Catergory, which supports international transdisciplinary research in the fields of climate and the environment, health and socio-economics.
2- Health in France, which exclusively supports health-related research projects carried out in France by French institutions.
Applicants may not apply to both Global Category and Health in France. Submitting the same project in both categories will result in the disqualification of both expressions of interest.
Unsuccessful applicants will not be able to reapply for the same candidate or research program the following year.

2.2 Deadline: Friday 03 10 2025 before 12:00 at the latest.
Unsuccessful applicants will not be able to reapply for the same applicant or research program the following year.
Only one application per category (Global Category and Health in France) may be submitted per establishment.
Only the institution submits the application on the AXA web platform.
2.3 Application form in English (extracts)

-date-PhD defense
-date-Current university he/she is affiliated with
-short CV (3 pages maximum) of the prospective Chairholder including their h-index and a link to an online detailed CV.
About the research programme details : title, area (Health, Environment, or Socio-Eco) and, project description (3000 characters including spaces).
AXA will announce the results in June 2026.
