This symposium explores the spoliations of film heritage between 1933 and 1945, a largely unknown phenomenon. Papers reveal the complexity of these seizures: spoliation of works, equipment, filmmakers, laboratories or screening venues. The presentations will help us to understand the precise mechanisms of this methodically elaborate policy: its regional ramifications, the role of the institutions involved and the key players, as well as the works and filmmakers spoliated.
