The symposium focuses on the possibility of envisaging a way of sharing the Earth that does not lead to its destructive overexploitation and, moreover, on the hypothesis of an Earth that cannot be reduced to human appropriation – that is to say, one that has intrinsic value. It explores the different ways in which cultures relate to the Earth, whilst seeking to understand how human habitation can be reconciled with the preservation of the Earth itself.
