Faced with the growing challenges of the energy transition, France and Quebec serve as two prime testing grounds for analyzing the links between decarbonization, industrial sovereignty, and regional development. Despite their distinct trajectories, both regions face common challenges: access to critical resources, the electrification of energy use, rising energy demands driven by digital technology, and the social acceptability of projects.
The ongoing transformations are also sparking numerous protests and controversies surrounding environmental, economic, and democratic issues. This conference, to be held on October 14 and 15 in Bordeaux, offers a comparative and multidisciplinary approach drawing on the humanities and social sciences. It aims to explore the dynamics of reindustrialization, regional innovations, and forms of resistance to the energy transition.
Researchers and practitioners are invited to share their perspectives in order to shed light on the conditions for a just, sustainable, and socially accepted transition.
