CIVIS and non-EU
Studying in Europe with the CIVIS program
The CIVIS and Non-EU programs enable you to spend one or more study periods at a partner university. Taking part will enable you to:
- study law at a foreign law school for a semester or a year
- be exempt from tuition fees at the host university
- validate 1 semester or one year of a Licence 3, a Master 1, a Certificat Universitaire de Droit Comparé (1 semester) or a Diplôme Universitaire de droit Comparé (1 year) by transferring the ECTS credits acquired and the grades obtained
- be eligible for financial aid for mobility, subject to certain conditions (see "Financial Aid").
What are the conditions for taking part?
- Be enrolled at Aix-Marseille in the year preceding the mobility period
- Be selected by AMU
Applying for a Master 1 degree
Pre-selection for an Erasmus trip, by Civis or outside Europe, as part of a Master 1 program, does not prejudge admission to the Master 1 program, which depends solely on admission to the Master 1 program at the end of the E-candidate procedure.
Consequently, even if a student is preselected for an Erasmus trip, by Civis or Hors Europe, as part of a Master 1 program, he or she will only be admitted to the exchange program if he or she has been selected for the Master 1 program. Please note that not all M1 courses are compatible with an exchange program. Please contact the M1 course coordinator.
Students are invited to follow the normal Master selection procedure, as set out in the E-candidat application.
Please note that not all M1 courses at AMU are compatible with an overseas placement. Please contact the Administrative Agent in charge of mobility.Application form

From September 2022, the UK will no longer be an official participant in the ERASMUS+ program.
This implies a number of major changes for mobility in these countries.
Language certifications
Few language certifications are officially accepted(UK Government website). Currently (as of 28/06/2021), you need to prove a minimum level of English B2 with one of the following certifications:
- IELTS SELT Consortium: "IELTS for UKVI" or "IELTS Life Skills".
- LanguageCert: "LanguageCert International ESOL SELT".
- Pearson: "PTE Academic UKVI" or "PTE Home
- PSI Services: Skills for English UKVI
These are valid at all UK universities. They cost between €200 and €250.
The TOEFL is currently accepted by the universities and allows you to obtain the VISA (250€).
VISA
A passport is required for both 1-semester and 1-year stays. It must be valid for the entire duration of your stay. If you don't have one, take the necessary steps as soon as possible.
1-semester mobility (6 months or less):
EU students will be able to study in the UK for up to six months without applying for a visa under the new Visitor Route rules. They will be able to apply for the Visitor Route at the border on arrival in the UK (airport or train station), presenting a letter of acceptance from their host university and using their e-passport. There is no application fee.Mobility over 6 months :
The "student route" will apply to students studying in the UK for more than 6 months. A visa is required.
For the visa application (~ 1000€) :- Application fee
- NHS access fees will apply to students.

Who can help me find an internship?
We don't keep an address book.
However, here are a few organizations that regularly offer internships:
- The International Criminal Court in The Hague (Netherlands)
- European Commission, Brussels (Belgium)
- Ministry of Foreign Affairs
- Humanitarian NGOs
You can also get in touch with the SUIO, which can offer workshops on writing CVs, covering letters, etc.
-
What steps do I need to take?
Once you've found your internship, you'll need to apply for an agreement via your ENT.
Please note that some countries are considered "at risk". You can consult the list on the France Diplomatie website. These destinations require validation of the internship agreement by the university's Defense Security Officer (FSD). In the event of refusal, the internship must be cancelled.
-
Is financial assistance available?
If your internship is abroad, you may be eligible for financial assistance.
In the "Documents to download" section, you'll find a brochure explaining all the schemes in place to qualify for a grant.
These vary according to your destination country and whether or not you are a CROUS scholarship holder.
-
Scholarship application procedure
- Log on to your ENT, then go to the Moveon online platform
- Fill in the form "2023/24 - Déclaration : Mobilités Stages" by clicking on "Commencer".
- Send an e-mail to the component's mobility manager
- Once the internship has begun, upload the arrival certificate, duly completed, signed and stamped by the internship tutor, to the form "2023/24 - Follow-up: On arrival".
- Once the internship has ended, you will need to upload the "After the mobility" document (for ERASMUS mobilities only) and the return attestation (same document as the arrival attestation) duly completed, signed and stamped by the internship tutor in the "2023/24 - Follow-up: On return" form.
Once the first 3 steps have been completed, the file is sent to the commission to determine whether the student is eligible (or not) for one or more scholarships. To be eligible for a scholarship, the internship must last at least 2 full months.
The following scholarships are available:
- ERASMUS scholarship : 12 months' funding per study cycle, amounting to between €420 and €520 per month (depending on destination country).
- AMI scholarship : 9 months' funding over the entire university course, for CROUS scholarship holders only, 400€ per month
- PMS (Outgoing Mobility Plan): scholarship based on academic criteria
