The University Institutes for Teacher Training (IUFM), created by the law of July 10, 1989, have left their mark on people's minds. They were born of a strong social ambition: to meet the pedagogical needs created in particular by the democratization of secondary education that began in the late 1950s. The IUFM project was thus based on the idea that improving teacher training could make it possible for all students to succeed. IUFMs existed for twenty-four years, then were replaced by ESPÉs in 2013 and INSPÉs in 2019. This symposium aims to fill the gap.
