The pandemic, travel restrictions and political tensions in China have disrupted exchanges between Chinese researchers in the humanities and social sciences and their counterparts abroad. This is why it is now necessary to re-examine recent developments in China's academic and intellectual world. Drawing on new methodological approaches borrowed from intellectual history and the sociology of knowledge, this symposium will examine the question of publicknowledge. The symposium will bring together historians, social scientists and independent critics who, from different geographical and disciplinary perspectives, observe and study academic and intellectual trends in contemporary China.
