Calenda Announcement ( 1 402 864)
The aim of this day is to explore how a particular type of conflict situation concretely affects modern law, and to do so by looking at how legal professionals respond to its tension.
What happens to the law in contemporary societies when social conflicts intensify to the point of overflowing the usual framework for their resolution? How do legal professionals react to the demands and injunctions to which they are subjected? How do they translate the questions posed into the language of law, if necessary, and how are contradictions formulated? How do the issues at stake and the internal logic of the law affect their reasoning? What role do their professional culture and ethos play? How does the political and social context, and in particular any controversies, influence their attitudes? What forms do disagreements take? What types of reasoning and concepts do they mobilize to justify derogations?
