1 General framework of the scheme (summary)

Created in 2023, the Dufaure-CHPP Prize aims to reward each year the author of a Master 2 thesis on the contemporary political and parliamentary field (since the French Revolution). It is open to works in the following disciplines: constitutional and parliamentary law, political history, political science and political sociology.

The prize is organized by the Committee for Parliamentary and Political History. The CHPP is a French association founded by academics. Its objectives are to promote research on French and international political history, and to make parliamentary activities better known to the general public.

The prize is named after Jules Dufaure (1798-1881), former parliamentarian and minister under the July Monarchy, the Second Republic and the Third Republic.

Obtaining the Dufaure-CHPP Prize allows the laureate :

- the publication of his or her dissertation in the form of a book, subject to taking into account the remarks made by the jury;

- the publication of a review article in the journal Parlement[s], after validation by a reading committee.

2 Application procedures (summary)

Only students who have written a Master 2 thesis in French during the calendar year preceding the awarding of the prize are eligible to compete. It is open to works in the following disciplines: constitutional and parliamentary law, political history, political science and political sociology.
