This colloquium aims to question the role of the media in the production of information about sexist and sexual violence. Over the past twenty years, many disciplines have taken up the issue of gender-based violence, but it has been little understood by researchers through the prism of its media coverage. This international colloquium brings together some fifty speakers from different disciplinary and geographical backgrounds to discuss five themes: 1) the conditions of production of media content, 2) media representations of sexist and sexual violence, 3) the media circulation of testimonies, 4) prevention and awareness-raising mechanisms and discourse, 5) emotions and commitment in research work.
