This one-day workshop looks at how contemporary discourses (re)fabricate memory. These discourses are numerous and diverse in nature: they are embedded in the world of art, they are supported by remembrance associations and are omnipresent in the museum world (remember, for example, that many concentration sites are becoming memorials). And they continue to dialogue and confront European and international current affairs. We will be focusing primarily on the Second World War period in Europe, with particular attention to the way in which the Spanish Civil War provided victims for Nazism.
