The issue of the cultural, social and professional integration of immigrants is regularly at the heart of public debate. Since the end of the Second World War, numerous laws and regulations have attempted to regulate the dynamics of migration, by proposing tools and mechanisms for integration. In recent years, new initiatives aimed at newcomers have emerged. Today's schemes aim for a more comprehensive approach than in the past, combining social support and professional integration. The question of their effectiveness is as pressing for social workers and public decision-makers as it is for the beneficiaries themselves.
In a context marked by persistent tensions on the job market, the issue of professional integration for immigrants also raises major challenges in terms of social and cultural integration.
With this in mind, on June 24, 2025, at the Musée national de l'histoire de l'immigration in Paris, a one-day conference entitled "Insertion par l'emploi des immigrés: défis et perspectives d'intégration" (Integration through employment for immigrants: challenges and prospects for integration) will look at the political and social conditions for integration, and will focus on a comparative analysis of several work-based integration schemes, highlighting their impact, limitations and conditions for success.
A central question will guide the debates: how to build sustainable social, cultural and professional integration, in a context of tensions on the labor market and redefined migration policies?
