(Announcement Calenda 1147037)

1 Framework (summary)

The Fondation des travaux historiques et scientifiques, created by the Comité des travaux historiques et scientifiques (CTHS, an institute attached to the École nationale des chartes) and housed at the Académie des sciences morales et politiques, aims to support and promote the dynamism of French learned societies. To this end, it has created two prizes for them. The prize is intended to reward an action (carried out by a learned society, or in which a learned society has been the main player) to disseminate knowledge, or to safeguard, rediscover or enhance a heritage: built, natural, intangible, collections (archives, works, objects, etc.), etc. Its aim is to highlight an action initiated and carried out by a learned society, member of the CTHS directory, during the period running from January 1, 2023 to December 31, 2024. This action may have developments beyond 2024.

It may, for example, involve a restoration operation carried out directly by a scientific association, or by a local authority that has relied directly on the expertise of the said association.

Two prizes of up to €1,500 each will be awarded to the winners. Two accessits (CTHS medal) may also be awarded.

2 Eligibility (summary)

Entries must be submitted on plain paper (7,000 characters including spaces). It should include details of objectives, future developments, stakeholders and deadlines. Its budget will be specified, as well as the way in which the €1,500 could be used to extend the action. A separate page will present the learned society: postal address, articles of association, identification of the local representative, human resources (volunteers, salaried staff), budget for the current year.
