The creation of the Comité Consultatif National d'Ethique in 1983 gave institutional expression to a new type of response, referring to ethics, likely to propose norms and a language to deal with some of the threats, particularly of technological origin, that weigh on humanity. The aim of this seminar is, firstly, to review the intellectual resources that have made it possible to constitute and perhaps redefine ethics as a means of responding to these threats and, secondly, to analyze the way in which this logic is implemented within regulatory institutions that are attempting to defuse practices that have been identified as dangerous.
