Pediatric palliative care is a medical specialty that has recently been institutionalized in France, one that has received little attention from the social sciences until now. As part of a national collaborative research project on the inclusion of children receiving palliative care in mainstream schools, we examined the socio-historical origins of this specialty, its implementation within mobile teams, the career paths of its practitioners, and interviewed children and parents who have received this care. Some of these findings will be presented at this event. This one-day conference, which brings together researchers, professionals, and nonprofit representatives, also provides an opportunity to highlight other current and past research on related topics.
