Statues for memory? Colonialism and public space - Hybrid seminar from 09 02 2026 to 11 05 2026 - Campus Condorcet Aubervilliers

Online 04 02 2026

Announcement Calenda 1 349 445

The seminar "Des statues pour mémoire?" (Statues for memory?) tackles the question of contestations of monuments linked to colonial history in the public space.

The seminar will bring together researchers from different disciplines (history, art history, sociology, law, etc.), as well as actors from associations and civil society, to discuss the way in which monuments help to produce and inscribe memories in the public space. To this end, the seminar considers memories in their processual, evolving and often conflicting dimensions. For this second year, the seminar continues to offer sessions devoted to case studies, works in progress, book presentations, or cross-disciplinary theoretical reflection.
