Since the 1970s, issues relating to violence against women have become increasingly politicized. Today, violence against women, particularly domestic violence, is no longer confined to individual or private issues. They have gradually come to be understood as a systemic problem linked to issues of gender and domination. The aim of this symposium is to examine the modalities of public action in the field of gender-based violence: how does it develop, and thanks to whom? What actions can be taken to combat gender-based violence, and how effective are they in France and elsewhere?
