Calenda announcement 1 341 623 (in the miscellaneous information section) - extracts
This conference takes a cross-cultural look at emergency shelter and support for people experiencing homelessness in Quebec and France, focusing on both field practices and the tools used in social work to describe and understand them.
The first part will highlight the way in which responses to homelessness are organized in Quebec, with a particular focus on practices in the field, access to rights, care or citizenship, and ways of supporting the daily lives of the people concerned. It will also look at the spatial and temporal dimensions involved in setting up a safety net for these groups.
Secondly, the conference will explore the use of tools to describe and analyze situations of homelessness, with particular emphasis on the territorial dimension of social work. This approach will enable us to consider how coordination between players and the use of friezes, cartographies and analyses of wandering routes can improve knowledge of expectations and the adaptation of proposed responses, particularly with a view to social inclusion and public tranquility. The aim of this exchange is to propose avenues for reflection and action to enrich professional practices, by highlighting the complementary nature of experiences in the two countries.
