The Lay Association for Education, Training, Prevention and Autonomy (Alefpa) awards each year two prizes of 1500 € for a doctoral thesis. The works must concern people experiencing social difficulties or having a physical or psychological handicap. They can deal with education or training, support methods, and the care to be provided. They consider in particular the means likely to promote prevention, the access of these people to autonomy or their status as citizens in society. The disciplines concerned include (but are not limited to) the following: architecture, cultural mediation, educational sciences, psychology, sociology, political science, medical disciplines, etc.
