The study day aims to bring together researchers and practitioners in the field of urban planning to examine the conditions under which a ‘child-friendly’ city emerges and how its sustainability can be ensured, drawing on their own professional practices. The aim is to highlight the context and the thinking that leads adults working in the field of urban planning to deconstruct an adult-centred, dominant stance (Bonardel, 2015), in favour of granting children a legitimate place within the spaces they inhabit and move through.
