The crisis of international law is one of the major phenomena of the contemporary world order. Long presented as a universal normative system guaranteeing the peaceful coexistence of states, the regulation of conflicts and the protection of fundamental rights, international law is today confronted with profound tensions that call into question its legitimacy, effectiveness and universality. Contemporary geopolitical mutations, marked by the emergence of a multipolar order, the resurgence of state sovereignty, normative fragmentation, the politicization of international institutions, and the multiplication of global crises, reveal the structural limits of classic international law.
