The purpose of this call for papers is to compile a special issue of the journal *Les Études Sociales* devoted to the early years of the philosopher and sociologist Raymond Aron, from his early reflections at the École Normale Supérieure to his break with Sartre on the editorial board of *Les Temps Modernes* (1924–1947).
*Les Études Sociales* publishes works focusing on the history of the humanities and social sciences (HSS) in their various dimensions—actors and institutions, theories and methods, fields of intervention, and social issues—during the 19th and 20th centuries. As a journal of sociohistory, it is also open to research that places contemporary social and human sciences in a historical context. Multidisciplinary in nature, its editorial board brings together specialists from various disciplines (legal history, social history, political philosophy, sociology, geography, architecture, urban planning, and education).
