Africa provides particularly fertile ground for the practical application of Edgar Morin’s complex thought. The continent is currently facing intertwined systemic challenges: rapid population growth (more than 2.5 billion inhabitants projected by 2050), accelerated urbanization, climate vulnerabilities, unfinished economic transitions, digital transformations, and the restructuring of governance models. Added to this are tensions between tradition and modernity, between endogenous and exogenous knowledge, as well as innovation dynamics that are often informal but highly adaptive. The aim of this webinar, in tribute to Edgar Morin, is to explore the relevance of Morin’s thought to contemporary and future African dynamics.
