How can we assess Africa’s entrepreneurial trajectory? What is its true trajectory of development? To better understand how this continent is evolving, shouldn’t we view, organize, and ultimately operate Africa as a business—with predefined leaders and production sectors—in order to forge a genuine and revolutionary form of African economic “leadership”? Shouldn’t we, ultimately, fundamentally reexamine the history of African entrepreneurship and forms of leadership to enable this part of the world to better address the technological, financial, and economic challenges of today’s world? It is around these questions that this collective book project takes flight. Its aim is to trace Africa’s entrepreneurial history and to rethink business and leadership on the African continent through analysis, critical examination, and an examination of sociopolitical issues—all with the aim of proposing avenues for enhancing the competitiveness of businesses and entrepreneurs in Africa.
