Calenda Announcement 1 441 120 (excerpts)
This study day – which will take place at the Université Côte d’Azur (Nice) on 8 and 9 April 2027 – forms part of a new seminar series dedicated to meteorology and climate, to be held in the first semester of 2027. The full programme will be published at a later date. With a resolutely multidisciplinary approach, this ‘Weather & Climate’ seminar aims to foster dialogue between atmospheric and climate sciences, on the one hand, and the humanities and social sciences, on the other. It aims to become a forum for exchange and expression within a sustainable research network. The aim is to encourage active collaboration amongst its members. Those who wish to do so will be able to participate in the scientific preparation of the sessions and contribute to facilitating the discussions following the presentations, in particular by taking part in the discussions as discussants. In addition to publicising this call for papers for the study day on 8 and 9 April 2027, we also wish to raise awareness of this new seminar and foster the development of this network. Anyone wishing to attend the sessions or contribute to the discussions as a discussant is therefore invited to contact us.
Here, ‘heat’ is conceived not as a metaphor (for emotion, desire, urgency or conflict), nor as a cultural or symbolic motif that can be invoked independently of any actual meteorological experience, but as a meteorological and climatic reality, whose experiences, definitions and social uses merit closer examination.
