1 Presentation - summary of the two schemes
Every year, the international association "La Maison d'Auguste Comte" awards a thesis prize and research grants worth a total of €3,000. Its aim is to encourage young researchers in their work, and to help arouse students' interest in positivism and the philosophical currents associated with it.
The thesis prize is awarded to work that has already been defended before a jury.
The research grant, on the other hand, encourages and promotes a project in progress.
2 Thesis prizes
The Association awards a prize for a thesis on the following subjects, in order of preference:
- 1- Auguste Comte and positivism in the 19th and 20th centuries
- 2- The history and philosophy of science in the 19th century
- 3- Politics and the social sciences in the 19th century
This thesis (or PhD) must have been defended within the last five years.
3 Research grants
The Association awards a sum to help fund and encourage research work on, in preferential order, :
- 1- Auguste Comte and positivism in the 19th and 20th centuries
- 2- The history and philosophy of science in the 19th century
- 3- Politics and the social sciences in the 19th century
These research projects will draw on the documentary resources of the Maison d'Auguste Comte Documentation Center.
