Faced with the environmental impacts of digital technology, local authorities are designing websites that consume less energy and are more respectful of planetary limits. Based on the cases of Brest, Quimper, Lorient and Rennes, the Ecoweb project analyzes eco-design practices for digital services. On the one hand, the aim is to study the socio-political values of eco-design in relation to ecological and social transitions. Interviews with 16 players (responsible digital, communication, design and communication agencies) reveal a diversity of approaches ranging from energy efficiency to the denumerization of services. On the other hand, the aim is to compare these values with responsible design practices such as eco-design scores, the use of raster images, the publication of manifestos and so on. The aim is to report on the debates surrounding the choices to be made as part of an eco-design approach to building a more sustainable digital environment.
