This thematic issue is devoted to mountain infrastructures. These infrastructures have, on the one hand, a physical and technical materiality (relative to the practices of users and/or managers, and at the heart of operational issues) and, on the other hand, an economic existence (in terms of management or financing). In both cases, we need to consider these infrastructures through the prism of the socio-technical and economic systems at the heart of which they are located, as well as through their environmental, political and historical dimensions.
