African philosophy and, more broadly, African humanities constitute an essential field of reflection for understanding the symbolic, normative and ethical foundations of African societies. Long marginalized in the dominant philosophical narratives, these traditions of thought are nonetheless rich, coherent and bearers of their own conceptual categories, enabling us to apprehend the human, the social, the political and the cultural on the basis of historical experiences and lived realities on the African continent. The collective work Philosophie et Humanités africaines aims to rehabilitate and problematize these intellectual resources, demonstrating that they are not merely part of our cultural heritage, but constitute genuine critical tools for thinking about the issues facing contemporary societies.
