1 General framework of the prize
This prize is organized by the Comité d'histoire parlementaire et politique. The CHPP is a French association founded by academics. Its aims are to promote research into French and international political history, and to make parliamentary activities better known to the general public.
The prize is named after Jules Dufaure (1798-1881), a former parliamentarian and minister under the July Monarchy, the Second Republic and the Third Republic.
Winning the Prix Dufaure-CHPP enables the winner to promote his or her dissertation through :
- publication assistance
- presentation of their research at a CHPP seminar
- publication of a review article in the journal Parlement[s], after validation by a reading committee.
2 Themes and eligibility
Created in 2023, the Prix Dufaure - Comité d'histoire parlementaire et politique (CHPP) is awarded annually to the author of a master's thesis on contemporary politics and parliament (since the French Revolution). It is open to works in the following disciplines: constitutional and parliamentary law, political history, political science and political sociology.
Only students with a French-language Master's thesis defended in 2023 or 2024 are eligible, with a limit of one possible application for the prize.
