Vibrant, multidisciplinary and innovative, the Faculty of Arts and Sciences (FAS) is one of the largest faculties at the University of Montréal. It offers 300 programmes at all levels, some of which are unique in Quebec, spread across 28 departments, schools, centres and an institute. It is also home to around thirty interdisciplinary research centres and groups. On a daily basis, its 650 academic staff members shape the world of tomorrow by breaking down barriers between disciplines and fostering the exchange of different perspectives.

The Department of Communication brings together academics who excel in fields related to communication studies. Our members are actively engaged in cutting-edge research, deliver high-quality teaching and foster innovation, often within an interdisciplinary framework.

We are seeking a colleague specialising in communication and digital technologies, whose work will help to enrich our expertise and forge links with that already present within the Department. The post is open to a variety of approaches and perspectives for studying contemporary digital technologies and the transformations they are driving in our societies. These could be explored, for example, through the lens of social and organisational reconfigurations, the production and circulation of knowledge, rhetorical, media and cultural practices, infrastructure, regulation and, more broadly, societal challenges (environmental, ethical, political and economic).

Whilst this is not a criterion for exclusion, particular attention will be paid to applications that examine the role of artificial intelligence in these transformations, whether it constitutes a subject of research in its own right or forms part of a broader analysis.
