This permanent call for contributions for varia articles of the journal Cahiers d'Études africaines aims to stimulate proposals on varied and innovative themes, approaches, spaces and modes of writing. A bilingual (French and English) international and interdisciplinary journal, Cahiers d'Études africaines publishes original articles on Africa in all its extensions, reflecting cutting-edge theoretical and methodological research trends and the discussions they generate.

The innovative Sports Atlas is an observatory of sports at different geographical scales. A tool for analyzing the sporting world and the dynamics that run through it, without claiming to be exhaustive, it brings together multiple contributions from researchers in geography and sociology, but also in anthropology, law, economics, history, political science, geopolitics, information and communication sciences, STAPS, as well as experts in digital and dynamic cartography. Going beyond a simple inventory and study of competitive sports, the project is part of a multi-disciplinary and complementary approach to understanding and representing sporting cultures, sport-related issues and their forms of spatialization. A cross-disciplinary project for cartographic development and scientific dissemination aimed at a wider (extra-academic) public, it is certainly inspired by previous reflections and productions, but intends to be an innovative project, drawing on a variety of materials, addressing a multiplicity of themes and questions, and promoting scientific and civic debate.

This is one of the questions that will drive the 6th edition of the colloquium for doctoral students and young doctors, entitled "Actualité et réactions du droit", to be held on November 17, 2026 at the Faculté de Droit et de Sciences politiques in Nantes. The aim is to discuss and study the various reactions of the law to events of varying degrees of importance. While the law may give the impression of feeding on current events, it also appears that certain subjects and certain types of events do not lead to any evolution, or even lead the legislator to go back on acquired legal norms.

Echoing the many recent works devoted to this subject, this study day proposes to revisit the diversity of marginal mobilities. The aim is also to reflect on the epistemology of marginalized mobilities within geographical studies.

Whether willingly or unwillingly, consciously or unconsciously, politicized or, on the contrary, invisible, some mobilities can be described as marginal. Taking up and mobilizing the center-periphery explanatory scheme in the light of mobilities, this study day proposes to question any movement made in a situation of marginality, whether social (children, the elderly, prostitution, dead bodies, disabled people), economic (poverty, homelessness) or political (minorities, undocumented migrants).

This theme has been the subject of numerous works, such as the organization in November 2016 at Marne-la-Vallée of the colloquium dedicated to "mobilités marginales, mobilités dans les marges, marges mobiles", which gave rise to a publication in 2019 (Bernier, 2019) or the program for the agrégation externe de géographie on the France of the margins in 2019. The aim of this study day is to reinvestigate this theme in the light of recent research. We will also reflect on the epistemology of marginalized mobilities in our discipline. This day is open to all researchers mobilizing a spatial approach, whether geographers or not. Proposals from young researchers, including master's students, are welcome. Proposals may fall within (or go beyond) the following themes:

Introducing the column

By creating this section, the magazine wishes to contribute to the promotion of research work carried out within the framework of a thesis whose subject is in line with its editorial project.

• Axis 1: economic sociology and anthropology - economic structures and behaviors - the embedding of activities and representations linked to economic objects: work, business, exchanges, consumption, money... (cf. Karl Polanyi) - under- or mal-development.
• Axis 2: the economic and/or cultural dimensions of encounters between peoples - nations, groups and cultures - the international movement of people: tourism, mobility and migration - racism and discrimination - translations and transfers - the place of these themes in education and training.
• Axis 3: the institutional, economic and social dimensions of artistic creation, cultural and sporting activities, both professional and non-professional, and their contribution to the education and training of individuals - the occupation of free or non-working time - commodification and integration of digital tools and social networks at work in these fields.

Modalities of contribution

In order to broaden the audience for their work, we invite PhDs who have recently defended their thesis to publish a summary. In a maximum of three pages (approx. 1400 words), this text will present the object of the research, the methodology and the results obtained, as well as a few bibliographical elements.

There isno deadline. Texts received and accepted by the editorial board are published in the current issue as they are received and processed.

Submissions must be comprehensible to a non-specialist reader and in line with the magazine's orientations.

As part of the international symposium "Emotions and Politics in the Americas", to be held in Nantes on November 26 and 27, 2026, the organizing committee is accepting proposals for papers.

This symposium is based on a simple working hypothesis: the American continent, whose history is punctuated by experiences of colonization, slavery, revolutions, state violence and popular mobilization, is a particularly fertile terrain for analyzing how these "emotional regimes (or communities)" are formed, and how emotions structure relationships to power.

Historically structured around binary gender norms, physical, sporting and artistic activities (APSA) constitute spaces in which transidentites question gender categories, forms of categorization and modalities of recognition. Taking an interdisciplinary approach, this day will analyze the experiences of trans people in federal environments, in teaching, education and training contexts, and in so-called "alternative" spaces. It also aims to question the way in which trans people contribute, through their practices and experiences, to displacing, transforming or reconfiguring gender norms and the institutional frameworks of APSA.
