Today, disability studies constitute a diversified and interdisciplinary field of research based on the desiré to understand the notion of disability through the tools, methods and categories of analysis of the human and social sciences, considering disability as a political, cultural and social object. More recently, the emergence of internal critiques has contributed to the rise of a new constellation of work: critical disability studies. Critical disability studies offer unprecedented angles of approach for apprehending a host of themes (citizenship, issues of recognition, processes of exclusion, social ties and self-help networks, etc.).
