The French Society of Urban History (SFHU) opens, for its twelfth session, a thesis competition for young doctoral students in urban history, having defended their thesis during the calendar year 2021.

With this initiative, endowed with a prize of 2000 euros, the SFHU aims to encourage young researchers and to promote the widest possible dissemination of their work. The jury may also award a special prize of 1000 euros.

The prize is open to doctors who have defended a thesis in urban history, written in French, during the year (calendar) 2021. Theses of habilitation to direct research and theses of the École nationale des chartes are not accepted.

All theses that address the urban phenomenon in its historicity are eligible, regardless of the period, space and academic discipline (history, law, urban planning, architecture, art history, etc.) concerned.
